The Ghana Program offers University of Oregon students the opportunity to focus on development issues in Africa, combining relevant coursework with service learning opportunities. The program is open to students from any discipline but will especially appeal to students interested in African studies or international development issues.

Highlights:
- The Ghana program allows UO students to explore topics including urbanization, the role of women in development, and contemporary cultural, social, development issues in Ghana today.
- Students will also gain hands-on experience through a service-learning placement in one of several types of local organizations, including youth, environment, HIV/AIDS, music, public health and women's organizations, as well as many others.
- Accra, a city of about two million people, is a cultural center known for its traditional and contemporary arts, vibrant music scene and bustling outdoor markets.
- Excursion to the Central, Ashanti and Volta regions allow students to explore the regional and cultural diversity of Ghana.
AHA International
The Ghana program is sponsored by the Northwest Council on Study Abroad (NCSA) in cooperation with AHA International. AHA, founded in 1957 and based in Portland, Oregon, is an academic program of the University of Oregon providing educational college experiences abroad.
