I moved to London for the study abroad program in September, 1980. I did not return to the United States, except for one 3 or 4 week trip in about 1982, until 1988. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer and Information Science, with a minor in Mathematics. After my study abroad program ended in June of 1981, I rode my bicycle with a friend on the program from Köln to Vienna, then to Salzburg, Austria. I then went back to London for about 5 months, working in pubs, until I landed a job in München, Germany, with the recommendation of Professor Russell Fernald, for whom I very briefly worked as a student. I worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for Psychiatry in München from late 1981 until late 1987. After a couple of months based in Geneva, I went to the west coast of County Cork, Ireland, where I house sat for about 5 months. Then about 5 weeks in London, doing some database work for a housing charity, another month travelling around Europe, and then I flew to the United States. I have now been living and working in Seattle, Washington for almost 18 years. Since November of 2005, I am the Senior Computer Specialist for the Center on Human Development and Disability at the University of Washington. I have worked at the University of Washington for almost 12 years. I also teach tennis for the University of Washington Nordstrom Tennis Center, and continue to play a lot of tennis (I played tennis for the U of O my freshman and sophomore years).
