Beth (Engel) Shiffman
Nijenrode, The Netherlands School of Business
Market Intelligence Manager for IBM Corporation's Server Group. Married, two young children. It has been 18 years since I went to Nijenrode, but its profound influence on my life is still felt today. Before attending Nijenrode, I had never left North America, nor had anyone in my family. Almost two decades later, I am still best friends with my Dutch roommate from that year. My parents and her parents visit each other and take holidays together, and many other aspects of our lives are deeply entwined. None of this would have been possible without taking that first step to participate in the study abroad program. Not only has my life been enriched by the program, but the lives of my extended family have been touched as well. Thank you U of O! p.s. My "Dutch" parents from Tilburg, The Netherlands, are visiting my house in Portland right now!
