Deadlines
The application deadlines are:
March 1 for fall semester or the academic year.
October 1 for the spring semester or the calendar year.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Early application is highly recommended, as program space is limited.
Eligibility Requirements
The program is open to undergraduate students in good standing. To be eligible, students must meet the following minimum requirements before departure:
- a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.
- have at least 45 credits (freshman year complete).
- at least 3 years of college-level Spanish language or the equivalent.
Students must also make satisfactory academic progress throughout the application process and their study abroad program, and otherwise comply with policies and procedures of the host university, the UO and Study Abroad Programs.

Application Process
Students interested in applying to a CIEE program are strongly advised to meet with a program coordinator prior to applying.
Early application is advised. Selection for the program is based on a review of the student's written application, transcripts, recommendations and a personal interview. Qualified applicants are recommended by a Study Abroad Program Coordinator in International Affairs. The final selection of participants is made by CIEE.

CIEE application

Make sure to read the CIEE application instructions carefully.
- CIEE Application Forms (if you submit your application online, please submit a printout of the application).
- Personal Statement.
- $50 check or money order made payable to the University of Oregon.
- UO Disciplinary Clearance Form.
- Two Evaluation Forms (one required for summer programs).
- Six passport-size color photos. Print your name on the back of each photo.
- Official transcript(s).
A $50 application fee is due at the time the application is submitted and is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Selection and Participation
Participants must meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen program, and be prepared linguistically, academically, and socially to succeed abroad. Study abroad participants must satisfactorily complete the following:
- well-written program application.
- personal interview.
- timely submission of required paperwork.
- attendance at pre-departure orientation sessions.
- payment of program fees.
Program participants must also demonstrate the ability to be successful overseas through evidence of maturity, motivation, and flexibility, and such other characteristics as Study Abroad Programs may deem relevant or appropriate. Participation in any program is subject to the approval of International Affairs and its partner institutions, which may grant or withhold such approval in their sole discretion.

Visa Information
Students will need to obtain a "Student" visa before departure. It is the student's responsibility to secure the visa. CIEE will provide instructions to assist students with the visa application process. The granting of visas is at the sole discretion of the Chilean government and cannot be guaranteed by CEE or the University of Oregon.
Please note: Students may need to apply for the visa in person at a Chilean consulate.
Please note that visa regulations and policies change frequently.
All students should apply for or renew (if necessary) their U.S. (or other) passports as soon as possible.
Orientations
All study abroad participants must fulfill the required study abroad orientation process. Students are required to complete a general Blackboard orientation and attend the program-specific orientation.
The orientations will cover administrative logistics, travel, health, safety, conduct, housing and cultural adjustment and whenever possible involve discussions with past participants. More information regarding the orientation process will be emailed to students.
A mandatory orientation session, conducted in Santiago at the beginning of the program, introduces students to the city, culture, and academic program, and provides practical information about living in Santiago.
