University of Oregon students have multiple opportunities to study in Querétaro, Mexico, home to the oldest of the UO’s study abroad programs in Mexico.  Students may choose a 16-week Mexican Studies Program in fall or winter-spring, or the Intensive Summer Spanish Programs, with 5-, 6- or 12-week options.  Mexico is a vibrant country undergoing profound changes, with a unique blend of ancient cultures and modern society, and Querétaro is an ideal city to experience Mexico and get to know its people.

Highlights:

  • Located in the heart of Mexico, off the tourist path, the Querétaro program provides students an opportunity for rapid language advancement and significant cultural immersion.
  • Students earn 26-33 UO credits (semester) or 12-24 UO credits (summer) in small classes taught in Spanish by experienced Mexican faculty.
  • Participants are placed individually with carefully selected home-stay families.
  • Whether exploring Querétaro, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on a class field trip or learning about Mexican history and culture on an excursion to a different region, students have numerous opportunities to experience the many facets of Mexico.
  • Opportunities are available for student teaching, including EFL.
