Academic Calendar

Dates for 2009 Programs are as follows:

• Spring Semester:  January 11 to April 30, 2009
• Spring Term:   March 29 to June 5, 2009
• Summer Session 1:  June 14 to July 24, 2009
• Summer Session 2:  June 28 to July 31, 2009
• Summer Session 3:  July 26 to September 4, 2009
• Summer Sessions 1 & 3:  June 14 to September 4, 2009
• Fall Semester:  August 16 to December 4, 2009

Accommodations

The experience of living with a Mexican family is an important component of these programs, enabling students to have greater exposure to the language and culture. In Mexico, the family plays a central role in each individual's life. The word “familia” encompasses the entire extended family, not just the immediate.

Each participant is placed individually with a family selected and trained for the program. Students will have a private room and will be given a key to the house. Meals are generally taken with the family, except during field trips and optional excursions.

Insurance

All students on this program are enrolled in a mandatory health and accident insurance plan. Information regarding comprehensive insurance will be provided by IUSI.

UO Financial Aid

Although most forms of UO financial aid may be applied to program costs, students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package. All students using UO financial aid should download the attached instructions.

Using Your Financial Aid Abroad

Summer
During the summer, loans are generally the only type of aid available to students studying overseas and students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package. Summer financial aid applications are available beginning April 1 and must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships by May 1. Early application is strongly advised.
