Academic Calendar

Dates for 2008 are as follows:

Summer: June 22 to August 17, 2008
Fall Semester: August 31 to December 14, 2008
Spring Semester: February 17 to June 1, 2008

The schedule for 2009 will be available at the CIEE website early in 2009.

Accommodations

Semester and Academic Year
Participants select one of three housing options, and CIEE staff make assignments based on preference and availability after students arrive on-site. While every effort is made to accommodate the first choice of all participants, CIEE is unable to guarantee any housing option prior to the start of orientation.

  • Campus Residence Hall with CIEE Roommate.
  • Campus Residence Hall with Chinese Roommate.
  • Chinese Homestays.

Summer
Participants can select one of three housing options. Note that there may be a limited number of spaces available in certain housing options and that students may take part in a housing lottery if demand for their chosen housing option exceeds capacity.

  • Off-Campus Student Apartments.
  • Off-Campus Student Apartments with Chinese Roommate.
  • Chinese Homestays.

Insurance

All students on this program are enrolled in a mandatory health and accident insurance plan. A complete description of the benefits and basic provisions of the insurance policy is included with participant acceptance materials.

UO Financial Aid

Although most forms of UO financial aid may be applied to program costs, students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package. All students using UO financial aid should download the attached instructions.

Using Your Financial Aid Abroad

Summer
During the summer, loans are generally the only type of aid available to students studying abroad and students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package. Summer financial aid applications are available beginning April 1 and must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships by May 1. Early application is strongly advised.

Scholarship Opportunities

CIEE scholarships are available only to CIEE program participants. These grants ranging from $500 to $1,000 (Bowman, Bailey, Ritzmann, ISP) and are awarded each year to students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need. The awards are applied directly to the applicant's CIEE program fee. For more information and application materials, visit www.ciee.org/study/scholarships.aspx or contact Study Abroad Programs.
