The goals of the summer program are for undergraduate students to gain a deeper understanding of Tokyo and Japanese society and acquire Japanese language skills and the ability to communicate in Japanese at an elementary level. This is accomplished through coursework in Asian studies taught in English, a field trip program, and the leadership of CIEE staff.

Highlights:

  • Japanese studies curriculum and integrated excursions provide students the opportunity to learn first-hand about Japan from a variety of perspectives.
  • Excellent introduction to Japan for students interested in Japanese society, culture, and language.
  • Dedicated CIEE student service and resource center located on the Sophia University campus in the heart of downtown Tokyo.
