Academic Calendar

Students may participate in this program for either semester or the full academic year. The fall semester begins with mandatory orientation activities in mid-September and ends in mid-December. The spring semester begins in mid-January and ends in mid-June. While yearlong participants will sit for most of their exams in the exam period in May and June, special arrangements are made for semester students to take their exams in December, so they can return to Eugene for winter term.

Dates for 2008-09 are as follows:

Fall: September 29. 2008 to January 23, 2009
Spring: January 26 to May 15, 2009

Dates for 2009-10 will be posted at the Bristol website after January 1, 2009.

Accommodations

The University of Bristol guarantees accommodations for all visiting students. Halls of Residence are equipped with Internet access and fully furnished study bedrooms, single or shared. Some halls are catered (meal services in a dining hall) while others are self-catered (includes a shared kitchen in each flat). The housing contract generally covers only the academic periods. Students may stay in their rooms during vacation periods for an additional charge (included in budget, below). Arrangements are made through the University’s Accommodations Office. The Student Accommodation prospectus is available on-line at http://www.bris.ac.uk/accom/. Students arranging their own housing are advised to arrive in Bristol early.

Insurance

All students on this program are enrolled in a mandatory health and accident insurance plan. A complete description of the benefits and basic provisions of the insurance policy is included with pre-departure orientation materials.
