Location

Cambridge is an old city, with its origins going back to Roman times. Every age has left its mark on the city, from medieval to Georgian to modern-day buildings. Living in Cambridge is to live through history, with the environment around you expressing the centuries of change that the city has seen.

As a cosmopolitan university city, Cambridge has everything you would expect–coffee bars, shops, restaurants, pubs, clubs and Internet cafes–but it also has a great heritage of knowledge. There are a great many museums, galleries and historic sites to visit.

During the summer you will get to know the quiet back streets and college courtyards that tourists to the city can only glimpse. As a student on the University of Cambridge Summer Schools, you will become familiar with the city in a way that few are privileged to find, living and studying within its boundaries as a Cambridge student.

Cambridge International Summer Schools
Summer programs were established at the University of Cambridge in 1923 with a view to widening participation in education. Now the Summer Schools regularly welcome around 1000 students representing an average of 55 countries worldwide. The Schools cover a range of subjects in the humanities, social and natural sciences, and participants live in one of the regular Cambridge colleges, enjoying the full collegiate experience at Cambridge.

Interested students should note that the Cambridge International Summer Schools enroll primarily international students (including U.S. students) and are not usually elected by regular Cambridge degree students. As such, there are few UK students on site, though the Schools do boast a very diverse, global population.
