The Helsinki program is offered Summer term (odd years).
The program will next run Summer term 2009

Travel mixed with study is meant to inspire architectural, experiential and cultural understanding. This summer architecture program offers students a unique opportunity to live in, experience and gain architectural, urban, interior design and landscape perspectives found in Finland. This program will give students an opportunity to explore issues relating building, landscape, culture, materials and light. The full course of study includes a studio, a history/theory seminar and a media class.

Highlights:

  • Virginia Cartwright, a faculty member from the University of Oregon’s Department of Architecture is the resident director and instructor for the program.
  • Excursions in Helsinki and beyond allow students to expand their knowledge of Finland outside the classroom.
  • Participants earn 12 credits in three courses: studio (6 credits), seminar (3 credits), and media (3 credits).
