Academic Program

The program offers primarily courses in French language and culture.

Summer program students take 8 to 9 credits in each one-month program.  Each month-long summer program results in 4 credits toward the UO French language sequence, plus elective credits.

Fall and spring students take a mandatory French language course, earning two terms' worth of French-language credit in the fall, and three terms' worth in the spring.  In addition, fall and spring students choose from other elective courses in French language and culture, plus they also have the option of taking the course offered by the visiting Northwest U.S. professor (field of study varies for these visiting professor courses).

Site Director
Sue Crust is widely admired for her organizational skills, her enthusiasm for French culture and language, and her close connections to the local community.  She has M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in college student services administration as well as an M.A. in French.  In 1985-86, she was a student at Centre International d'Etudes Françaises (CIDEF) and now works in Angers with AHA.

Registration and Credits

Students participating in this program will be registered at the University of Oregon and will receive UO credits for courses taken in Angers.  Course work will be reviewed and evaluated by appropriate academic departments at the UO.

Students are responsible for making sure that the courses they plan to take in Angers will meet major and minor requirements. Students are advised to consult with their academic advisor about their plans to study in the Angers program.

Course Equivalencies

Courses in this program are approved on a periodic basis. The attached course equivalency shows the most recently approved courses. Courses that do not appear on this sheet will be approved for UO credit.
