Academic Calendar

Dates for 2008-09 program are as follows:

  • Fall Business:  August 27 to December 19, 2008
  • Academic Year:  August 27, 2008 to June 12, 2009

Dates for 2009-10 will be available during spring term 2009.

Accommodations

The Lyon program allows students the flexibility to choose from a range of housing options.  During the September orientation, students may live with a host family or in a residence hall.  For the rest of the year, students may choose a host family, a residence hall, a room in a boarding house, or a small apartment.  Students will have access to cooking facilities and/or inexpensive student restaurants.

Business program students live with French home-stay families in order to have a cultural immersion experience not provided in their main academic courses, which are taught in English.

Housing Stipend
Most students in the Lyon program receive a modest monthly stipend (CAF) from the French government that serves as a partial subsidy of housing costs while attending school in Lyon.  Students must apply for the stipends after arrival in France, and the awarding of stipends is dependent on the student's actual housing costs and financial situation (much like U.S. financial aid). Stipends range up to €120 per month and are available to all eligible students enrolled in recognized academic programs in France.

Insurance

All students on this program are enrolled in a mandatory health and accident insurance plan.  Information regarding comprehensive insurance will be provided during the OUS orientation.

Note: UO students will be charged a $300 per UO term Study Abroad Fee.  This fee will be charged to the student's UO account at the beginning of each UO term.  Students will also be charged their UO major resource fees.

Information regarding payment schedule and refund policy will be provided during the OUS orientation.

UO Financial Aid

Although most forms of UO financial aid may be applied to program costs, students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package.  All students using UO financial aid should download the attached instructions:

Attention: Students with Work Study Awards
The OUS International Programs office in Lyon is generally able to employ one or more work-study students (depending on Lyon enrollment and each student's work-study award amount) as office assistants.  Students who receive work-study awards are encouraged to retain them in their financial aid packages until the final work-study hires are announced. Year-long program participants receive first priority for work-study positions in Lyon.
