Deadline

The application deadline is:

March 1 for the summer, fall, winter and spring terms

Eligibility Requirements

Any Oregon MBA student who has completed the first year in good academic standing is eligible to participate.  Students must be in good academic standing at the time of application.

Students must also make satisfactory academic progress throughout the application process and their study abroad program, and otherwise comply with policies and procedures of the host university, the UO and Office of International Programs (OIP).

If you do not meet the minimum requirements, please contact Andrew Verner before applying.

Language Requirements
All classes are taught in English, which is the common language of students and instructors alike.  That said, it’s always helpful to know or at least start learning the language of one’s host country—not just for those occasions when the person on the street does not understand English, but also in order to gain a better understanding of local culture.  Students fluent in French may chose between courses taught in English or French, but the schedule for the French courses is different.

Application Process

Early application is advised, especially for the summer and fall term programs.  Selection for the program is based on a review of the student's written application, transcripts, recommendations and a personal interview.  Applications are submitted to the Office of International Programs and will be processed as soon as they are completed.

Applications are available in the Office of International Programs, Room 330 Oregon Hall or online here.

A $50 application fee is due at the time the application is submitted and is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Selection and Participation

Participants must meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen program, and be prepared linguistically, academically, and socially to succeed abroad. Overseas study participants must satisfactorily complete the following:

  • well-written program application
  • personal interview
  • timely submission of required paperwork
  • attendance at pre-departure orientation sessions
  • payment of program fees

Program participants must also demonstrate the ability to be successful overseas through evidence of maturity, motivation, and flexibility, and such other characteristics as the OIP may deem relevant or appropriate. Participation in any program is subject to the approval of the Office of International Programs and its partner institutions, which may grant or withhold such approval at their sole discretion.

Secondary Paperwork

All students admitted to this program are required to complete and submit to the Office of International Programs the linked paperwork.

Visa Information

All students must have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end of their intended stay.

Student Visa:  U.S. citizens studying in France in programs that exceed 90 days will need a French student visa.  Students in shorter programs are not eligible for the student visa.  Residents of Oregon and other U.S. Northwest areas will need to apply for the visa in person in San Francisco. Roger Adkins, Overseas Coordinator for Western Europe, will provide details on the visa application process to all students who need it.

Tourist Visa:  Students in shorter programs should note that they will be using days that count against their Schengen Area tourist visa during study programs less than 90 days.  The Schengen tourist visa is stamped in the passport upon arrival in Europe and allows U.S. citizens 90 total days as tourists in the following fifteen countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.  Students without student visas must not plan to stay in the Schengen Area for longer than 90 total days.  (Students who hold the student visa for long stays in France will have the 90 tourist days in addition to their student visa period.)  Schedule a visa appointment with Roger Adkins ASAP after admission by the OMBA Program Director.

EU and Swiss Nationals
No visa is required.  Be sure your EU or Swiss passport is valid for six months beyond the end date of your program (and your return air ticket).  See an International Student Adviser in the Office of International Programs for details about your U.S. immigration status.

All Other Nationals
Send your name, planned terms of participation, identify the Reims program, and give your nationality to Roger Adkins, Overseas Coordinator for Western Europe.  Also, plan to see an International Student Adviser in the Office of International Programs for details about your U.S. immigration status.

Orientations

All students are required to complete a three-part pre-departure orientation at the University of Oregon that will cover academic, logistical, and financial matters. For detailed information, including dates and locations, please click here.
