Academic Calendar
Summer Program:
September 2007 – June 2008:
- Two 1-course modules each month
- Start and end dates and breaks between courses vary from month to month
Accommodations
Newly arriving students can stay in the downtown youth hostel (private rooms, shared facilities) for less than $25 per night until they locate permanent accommodations.
Permanent options include RMS- and university-owned residences, private dormitories, and private apartments in town. Only temporary accommodations, such as the youth hostel or a hotel, can be booked in advance, unless you are prepared to pay rent from the moment of making the reservation. Efficient public transportation and conveniently located shops and eateries minimize all expenditures of time. For more information, see http://www.reims-ms.fr/studying/housing.html and http://www.supdeco-rms.com/en/student_life/housing_in_reims.html.
Personal Travel
Given the intensive nature and short duration of the summer program, students wishing to travel recreationally should plan to do so after the conclusion of the program. Courses taken during fall, winter, or spring terms allow for some brief travel between the conclusion of one class and the start of the next, though it is still best to plan any lengthy travel for the time before or after.
In making your plans, please note that some courses require written assignments that can be completed only after the class itself has finished. All courses offer opportunities for local excursions.
Insurance
Included in the cost of your program fee is (mandatory) health insurance coverage provided through Acordia Somerton. The insurance policy is designed to cover the cost of medical care incurred during your time abroad while on your program. Your policy begins one week before your program starts and ends one week after the conclusion of your program. Additionally, the policy offers emergency evacuation coverage, together with 24-hour global emergency assistance services.
For more information please read the Acordia Somerton Insurance Student Brochure.
You may be covered by another insurance policy, through your family or through the university. It is recommended that you continue your existing coverage. Check with your heath insurance company for more information and details on your coverage.
