Deadlines
The application deadlines are:
April 15 for the fall semester.
September 15 for the spring semester.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Early application is highly recommended, as program space is limited.
Eligibility Requirements
The program is open to students from all fields of study. To be eligible, students must meet the following minimum requirements before departure:
- have an overall GPA of 2.50 or above
- have at least 45 credits (freshman year complete)
Note: One or more terms of college Italian are strongly recommended prior to participation in this program, particularly since few Macerata residents speak English. Course work in Italian is not required prior to participation, however.
Students must also make satisfactory academic progress throughout the application process and their study abroad program, and otherwise comply with policies and procedures of the host university, the UO and Study Abroad Programs.

Application Process
Early application is advised. Selection for the program is based on a review of the student's written application, transcripts, recommendations and a personal interview.
IMPORTANT: Applications for AHA programs involve two parts, which must be submitted to two different locations. Applications are available in Study Abroad Programs, Room 330 Oregon Hall or online at:
NOTE: Both parts of the application are due by the application deadline.
AHA requires, at the time of application, both a non-refundable application fee of $50 and a refundable deposit of $200 for each term/session you want to study at an AHA site (each summer session requires a separate deposit). The application fee is not refundable under any circumstances. The deposit is refundable or transferable, subject to certain guidelines and limitations. Selection and Participation
Participants must meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen program, and be prepared linguistically, academically, and socially to succeed abroad. Study abroad participants must satisfactorily complete the following:
- well-written program application
- personal interview
- timely submission of required paperwork
- attendance at pre-departure orientation sessions
- payment of program fees
Program participants must also demonstrate the ability to be successful overseas through evidence of maturity, motivation, and flexibility, and such other characteristics as Study Abroad Programs may deem relevant or appropriate. Participation in any program is subject to the approval of International Affairs and its partner institutions, which may grant or withhold such approval in their sole discretion.

Visa Information
Student Visa: Students (except for EU and Swiss citizens) who are admitted into this program must obtain an Italian student visa. All visa applications for the Macerata program will be processed by the Student Services Coordinator at AHA International, and students may address questions about the visa application process to this person.
Tourist Visa: Students should note that they will likely also be using days that count against their Schengen Area tourist visa. The Schengen tourist visa is stamped in the passport upon arrival in Europe and allows U.S. citizens 90 total days as tourists in the following fifteen countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. Students in Italy programs will have this 90-day tourist period over and above the days allotted in the Italian student visa.
Please note that visa regulations and policies change frequently.
All students should apply for or renew (if necessary) their U.S. (or other) passports as soon as possible.
Orientations
All study abroad participants must fulfill the required study abroad orientation process. Students are required to complete a general Blackboard orientation and attend the program-specific orientation.
The orientations will cover administrative logistics, travel, health, safety, conduct, housing and cultural adjustment and whenever possible involve discussions with past participants. More information regarding the orientation process will be emailed to students.
