Academic Calendar

The academic year in Pavia runs from October to the following July.  Specific dates of the program will be available in May.  Students may move into the Collegio Ghislieri any time after the first of September.  Students are encouraged to attend the orientation activities of the Collegio or the university, as appropriate.

Accommodations

There are two different kinds of accommodations arrangements for this program:

Collegio Ghislieri participant:
The student admitted to the Collegio will pay the UO the current year's costs for on-campus UO student housing (in a regular, shared residence hall room) with a full meal plan, including costs for housing and meals during the winter and spring breaks. This payment is added to a fund to provide room-and-board support for the Italian students who come from the University of Pavia to study at the University of Oregon. In return, the Collegio participant from the UO receives free housing in a nicely appointed single room (with en-suite bathroom) in the Collegio's 16th century palazzo, along with a paid meal plan in the Collegio's dining hall (think of the dining hall in Harry Potter movies, and then Italianize it!).

At-large participant:
The other Oregon student admitted into this program will be assisted in locating housing by the "Institute for the Right to University Study," an independent agency that assists Italian students not admitted directly into any collegio. Depending on demand and availability, the Institute will offer one or more options in a collegio facility, a shared apartment, a rented room, or a home-stay family. The Institute cannot guarantee that students will receive their first choice of housing. Students will have access to kitchen facilities and/or inexpensive student restaurants in Pavia. The at-large participant will pay for rent (and board, where included) either to the Institute, or directly to the landowner.

Insurance

All students on this program are enrolled in a mandatory health and accident insurance plan. A complete description of the benefits and basic provisions of the insurance policy is included with pre-departure orientation materials.
