Deadline
All application files must be completed and submitted to the OIP by the following deadlines:
February 1 for summer
March 1 for fall semester or the academic year
September 15 for spring semester
These UO application deadlines supersede dates stated in the ACTR materials.
Eligibility Requirements
Participation on all programs requires a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA at the University of Oregon. The Honors Semester Program requires a 3.30 cumulative GPA. All students must have a valid passport at the time of application. The language requirements for each program are as follows:
- Summer Program 2 years college level Russian
- Intermediate Semester Program 2 years college level Russian
- Advanced Semester Program 3 years college level Russian
- Honors Semester Program 3 years college level Russian and prior experience in Russia
- Academic Year Program 2-3 years college level Russian
Students must also make satisfactory academic progress throughout the application process and their study abroad program, and otherwise comply with policies and procedures of the host university, the UO and International Affairs.

HIV Testing Requirement
Under a 1995 Russian law, any person applying for a visa for a stay of more than three months must present a certificate showing that the individual is HIV negative. The certificate may be in either Russian or English, and the HIV test must have been taken no more than three months from the date of entry into Russia.
Application Process
Early application is advised. Selection for the program is based on a review of the student's written application, transcripts, recommendations and a personal interview. Qualified applicants are recommended by an Overseas Program Coordinator in International Affairs. The final selection of participants is made by American Councils.
Applications are available in and must be submitted to International Affairs, Room 330 Oregon Hall. A $35 application fee, made payable to American Councils, is due at the time the application is submitted and is non-refundable under any circumstances.
Graduate Students
In addition to the process described above and below, graduate student applicants must also complete the Graduate Enrollment in UO-Sponsored Study Abroad Programs form. This form requires that you obtain pre- authorization for your program from your advisor, department head and the Graduate School.

Selection and Participation
Participants must meet the eligibility requirements for their chosen program, and be prepared linguistically, academically, and socially to succeed abroad. Overseas study participants must satisfactorily complete the following:
- well-written program application
- personal interview
- timely submission of required paperwork
- attendance at pre-departure orientation sessions
- payment of program fees
Program participants must also demonstrate the ability to be successful overseas through evidence of maturity, motivation, and flexibility, and such other characteristics as the OIP may deem relevant or appropriate. Participation in any program is subject to the approval of International Affairs and its partner institutions, which may grant or withhold such approval in their sole discretion.

Visa Information
All students are required to have a visa to study in Russia. American Councils will provide specific information after acceptance into the program. There may be additional costs and requirements for the visa.

Orientations
All students are required to complete a three-part pre-departure orientation at the University of Oregon that will cover academic, logistical, and financial matters. For detailed information, including dates and locations, please click here.
Participants will also attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation in Washington DC at the start of the program.
