The Oviedo program is ideal for University of Oregon undergraduate students interested in Spanish life and culture, offering courses specifically tailored for students currently enrolled in first, second, and third year Spanish language classes. The program allows for rapid progress in the UO Spanish language sequence.

Highlights:
- Oviedo is a beautiful, culturally rich small city in the Asturias region of northern Spain. It is close to both the mountains and the ocean.
- The Oviedo program allows UO undergraduate students to experience life in Oviedo and Spain in intensive programs ranging from four weeks (summer) to eighteen weeks (spring semester).
- Students participating in a semester long program take a 1 credit course titled "Crosscultural Communication and Perspectives," which helps to orient students to life in Spain.
- Fall and spring participants can take courses in Spanish language, history, literature, art history, and more.
- Summer program participants focus on intensive language classes only.
- Classes are taught at the Curso de Lengua y Cultura Espanolas para Extranjeros, which is a department within the University of Oviedo, located in downtown Oviedo.
- Fall and spring participants live with Spanish host families throughout Oviedo, and summer students stay together in a residence hall.

The Oviedo program is sponsored by the Northwest Council on Study Abroad (NCSA) in cooperation with AHA International. AHA, founded in 1957 and based in Portland, Oregon, is an academic program of the University of Oregon providing educational college experiences abroad.
