Academic Calendar

Approximate dates for 2008 are as follows:

Summer Session I:   May 15 to June 6, 2008
Summer Session II:   June 5 to 28, 2008
Summer Session III:   June 27 to July 19, 2008
Fall Semester:   August 21 to December 19, 2008
Spring Semester:  January 4 to May 17, 2008

The schedule for 2009 will be available at the CIEE website several months before departure.

Accommodations

Housing and all meals are included in the program fee. Students live in Spanish speaking private homes or student residencias. All meals are taken at the homestay. All attempts are made to house students individually and in their own room. Given Seville’s size, all students must use public transportation to commute from their place of residence to the University.

Academic year students may choose to move into private apartments with Spaniards (not with other Americans) during the spring semester.

Insurance

All students on this program are enrolled in a mandatory health and accident insurance plan. A complete description of the benefits and basic provisions of the insurance policy is included with participant acceptance materials.

UO Financial Aid

Although most forms of UO financial aid may be applied to program costs, students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package. All students using UO financial aid should download the attached instructions.

Using Your Financial Aid Abroad

Summer
During the summer, loans are generally the only type of aid available to students studying overseas and students should be aware that they may need to supplement their standard financial aid package. Summer financial aid applications are available beginning April 1 and must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships by May 1. Early application is strongly advised.

Scholarship Opportunities

CIEE scholarships are available only to CIEE program participants. These grants ranging from $500 to $1,000 (Bowman, Bailey, Ritzmann, ISP) and are awarded each year to students who demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need.
