Faculty Evaluator Role (Academic Review)
The faculty evaluator, using the form provided by the OIP, completes additional steps in the process, including the following:
- Determining whether the course falls under the purview of the individual academic unit, allowing for a reasonable degree of interdisciplinarity, consistent with what is allowable for on-campus courses (i.e., including through cross-listing)
- Deciding whether the course is applicable to the academic unit’s major(s) and minor(s) and, if so, determining how many credits out of the total number* will apply, and how
- Providing a very brief title (22 characters or less) for each course for use on UO transcripts—sets a seven-year precedent
*Note: OIP evaluators determine the total number of credits that a course will receive. Academic department/program evaluators determine whether those credits are appropriately listed under the individual department or program, and whether and how they apply to the department’s or program’s major(s)/minor(s).
