Helen Fe Jones Scholarships
Two scholarships of $500 are awarded to Romance language students to study Spanish in a Spanish-speaking country. One is awarded to a graduate student and one to an undergraduate student. Applicants must have at least junior standing, must maintain a 3.5 GPA overall and a 3.75 GPA within the department, and consideration is given to those with preparation in Spanish. Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs Fellowship

Stickels Scholarship
One or two awards provide $1,000 for study in a Spanish-speaking country. The award is limited to graduate students of Spanish maintaining a 3.75 GPA within the department, who intend to become language teachers. Mexico
IUSI Scholarship
IUSI offers a limited number of partial tuition scholarships for the Mexican Studies program in Querétaro, Mexico. These are need-based awards up to $1,500 are designed to fill the gap for students whose financial aid is insufficient to cover program costs. Applicants must receive financial aid for at least 50% of their tuition and living expenses for the academic year. Upon return, recipients of the scholarship must complete one hour of off-campus community service for every $100 awarded. IIE Freeman - Asia Awards for Study in Asia
Application
Supporting U.S. undergraduates to study in East and Southeast Asia, these awards provide up to $3,000 for a summer program, $5,000 for a semester program, and $7,000 for an academic year program. Applicants must receive need-based financial aid or demonstrate financial need through FAFSA. Recipients must satisfy a public service requirement upon their return to the U.S. Applications must be completed online two weeks before the stipulated national deadline, as your overseas program coordinator must submit a letter of support. Peking University Harvard-Yenching Graduate Fellowship
Application
This fellowship is open to doctoral students focusing on Chinese studies in the humanities or social sciences, with an emphasis on culture. Bridging Scholarships
Application
The Association of Teachers of Japanese Bridging Project offers scholarships to American students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Currently enrolled undergraduates in any field of study are eligible to apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarships
Up to two stipends per program are available to students who are admitted to year-long exchange programs with Hokkaido University, Japan's Women's University, and Meiji University in Japan. The Senshu University fall program offers JASSO scholarships as well. Recipients will be provided with a monthly stipend of ¥80,000, a one-time allowance for airfare. Awards are based on program applications, academic merit, and financial need. Announcements regarding the availability of JASSO scholarships are made after program applications are reviewed. Heiwa Nakajima & Meiji University Scholarships
Meiji University provides scholarship opportunities for graduate students participating in the UO/Meiji exchange program. Selection is based on research potential and outstanding academic preparation. The Heiwa Nakajima Scholarship includes ¥200,000 per month, round-trip airfare and a settling-in allowance. The amount of the Meiji University Scholarship for Graduate Students is ¥100,000 per month and can be renewed. Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarships
Application
The Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture, Government of Japan) offers scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students pursuing Japanese studies or research in Japan. These scholarships include a monthly stipend of approximately ¥134,500, round-trip airfare, university tuition, arrival allowance, school and housing fees. These scholarships are not for use on UO-sponsored study abroad programs, but rather are for students who wish to pursue study in Japan on their own. The Japanese government also offers scholarships for teacher training in Japan for those actively working as primary or secondary school teachers. Morgan Stanley Scholarships are for undergraduates studying in Japan for an academic year who have an interest in economics and international finance. Awards are $7,500. American-Scandinavian Foundation Awards for Study in Scandinavia
Application
Fellowships of $4,000-$20,000 are available to help meet the costs of advanced study or research in Scandinavia (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands) for a year. These scholarships are open to advanced research students only, and are not for use on UO-sponsored study abroad programs. Applications are accepted from U.S. citizens and permanent residents who will have completed their undergraduate education at the time their overseas program begins. Priority is given to doctoral candidates at the dissertation level. Applicants are urged to arrange their academic or professional affiliations in Scandinavia as far in advance as possible. Aalborg University Exchange Scholarships
Exchange students receive a full waiver of Aalborg tuition. Students in some Aalborg programs may also qualify for travel scholarships that reimburse international airfare. Denmark's International Study (DIS) Program Scholarships
DIS offers several scholarships ranging from $250 - $2,000 per semester to students who demonstrate financial need. Scholarship information will be given out at the program interview. For more information, contact OIP.

The United Kingdom
British Marshall Scholarships
These scholarships will be awarded to approximately 40 Americans each year, and require superior academic achievement. The scholarship supports two years of study in a British University of the candidate’s choice. The bachelor’s degree must be completed before the scholarship begins; the age limit is 26. The age limit may be waived in the case of candidates wishing to read business studies or an allied subject. A GPA of not less than 3.70 is required. The Clan MacBean Foundation Grant (Scotland)
Application
This grant program is open to students pursuing studies directly relating to Scottish culture. Applicants must have completed two years of college prior to August 1 of the grant year. Rhodes Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to 32 Americans annually for graduate study at Oxford. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence as well as evidence of leadership and other extra-academic accomplishments. Applicants must be between 18 and 24 years old. The Universities of Aberdeen, Bristol and East Anglia Exchange Scholarships
Application
Year-long participants may be awarded exchange scholarships that include a full waiver of the UK university tuition. There are generally seven UEA scholarships, one for University of Bristol, and two for the University of Aberdeen each year. Exchange scholarships are available for year-long participation only at Aberdeen and Bristol; and to both semester and year-long participants at the UEA. UEA and University of Aberdeen Scholarships are open to students in most fields of study. Bristol Scholarships are limited to students with majors in mathematics, sciences, or computer science. Winston Churchill Foundation Scholarships
This scholarship supports graduate study in engineering, mathematics and science at Churchill College, Cambridge University, England. The award covers all College and University tuition and fees and also includes a living allowance, travel allocation, and spouse’s allowance, if appropriate. Applicants must take the GRE examination no later than October of the application year, must be between 19 and 26 years of age when the scholarship begins, and hold a bachelor’s degree at the time of award. The University of Tampere Exchange Scholarships

Françoise Calin Scholarship

French Embassy Programs
Application
The French Embassy offers several programs for students and young professionals to work and study in France. For example, Youth and Sports scholarships are available for students between the ages of 18 and 25 for short-term cultural and linguistic programs. Teaching Assistantships are also available. Chateaubriand Fellowships for Doctoral Students in the Humanities and Sciences fund Ph.D. research in France. For more information, visit the website above.
Rhône-Alps Scholarships
Scholarships are available for students studying in Lyon, France. Awards are about €450/month for doctoral candidates and €305/month for undergraduate and master's students. Both applications call for a CV and a maximum two-page study project, due by mid-February. For more information, contact OIP.

Germany
AGBC Düsseldorf Scholarship

The American-German Business Club grants scholarships for 1000 € to American students studying business or a business-related field at a university within 100 km of Düsseldorf. For more information, go to the website above.

Exchanges with Universities in Baden-Württemberg
Scholarship money is usually available from the State of Baden-Württemberg for participants in the year-long program. Money is disbursed based on financial need. Generally, most students who apply receive at least €80 per month; students with more demonstrated need may receive up to €380 per month. The total amount of money available each year is not confirmed until fall, and students usually learn of their awards at the end of the September orientation. German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) EDU.de Undergraduate Awards
Application
These undergraduate scholarships are available for study or internships in Germany from four to ten months long. All academic fields are eligible. Applicants must have junior standing by the beginning of the award period. Recipients receive a stipend of €615 per month of study in Germany and a lump sum reimbursement toward travel costs. As a rule, applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. However, foreign nationals may be eligible to apply if they have been full-time students at the UO for at least one year at the time of application and will return to the U.S. after the scholarship period to complete their degree. Please note that DAAD applicants need to apply early to the Baden-Württemberg exchange program or the Cologne program, so that letters of acceptance can be included with student's DAAD application. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit draft applications to OIP for review at least two weeks prior to the deadline. German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Graduate Scholarship for Study/Research in Germany
Application
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers the graduate scholarships to highly qualified graduate students, Ph.D. candidates and post-doctoral researchers for study and/or research at universities or institutes in Germany. These scholarships provide funds for ten months. In general, student applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled full-time in a degree program. Foreign nationals may be able to apply if they have been full-time graduate students at the UO for more than one academic year at the time of application. Available for students in all fields except medicine. Please note that DAAD applicants are expected to apply also for Fulbright scholarships. The National Italian American Foundation

This scholarship is awarded to students with high academic achievements who are either Italian American or majoring or minoring in Italian or a related field. Applicants must have a 3.25 G.P.A. and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Awards range from $2,500-$10,000, which can cover tuition and university-provided room and board. The University of Pavia Exchange Scholarships
The University for Foreigners, Perugia generally offers two scholarships, valued at approximately €620, to participants in the UO’s summer program in Perugia. University for Foreigners, Perugia Scholarships
UO students selected for this exchange program receive a full waiver of tuition and exam fees at the University of Pavia. This program is limited to students with three or more years of Italian language, and to two participants per year. Selection is made after an interview with Italian department faculty, primarily on the basis of the student’s academic program, academic merit, and with some consideration of financial need.
